CIRCULAR POLARIZING FILTERS

When using cameras with video assist and modern beam splitters it is necessary to use a special “Circular Polarizing Filter.” If these filters are not used it will cause the images in the view finder or video assist to differ dramatically from what’s captured on film.

The reason for this phenomenon is that modern beam splitters use a dielectric coating that has polarizing tendencies and since two polarizing filters cannot be used together, there will be problems. The Circular Polarizing Filters are made with an independent front and back which must be correctly positioned. The term “circular” doesn’t refer to the shape of the filter, but rather the technology used to make them.

Circular Polarizing Filters should also be employed on all auto-focus still and video cameras, as well as three chip video cameras.
