Clairmont
launches the Arricam Studio and the Arricam Lite modular 35mm camera
systems. Designed with comfort, precision and reliability in mind,
these two perfectly coordinated cameras provide flexible configurations
that make any operating situation simple!
The
most innovative feature of the Arricam is the Lens Data System
(LDS)
which reads and controls all data of the lens. It consists of Zeiss
Ultra Prime lenses or Cooke S4 lenses that contain contact sensors.
These sensors electronically transmit the settings for focus, iris
and zoom to the camera. Here, the other external systems, such
as,
the Arri lens control system, with which the lenses can be remotely
controlled, receive the lens data. The LDS system reads the iris
and
focus distance and uses the information to compute the depth of field.
When using the iris of the lens to ramp speed, the data is entered
into the speed box and the camera finds the proper iris settings
automatically.
Both the studio finder and the action finder, with their modular,
swing over design, can be used on either camera. At Clairmont, a long
extension finder with integrated 2x extender, is included with the
Arricam ST. Also available, are a medium finder and an anamorphic
finder. For format viewing, illuminated frame line modules allow access
to commonly used formats via a LCD matrix. Format masks are used when
special formats are necessary.
For
a high resolution video image, the Arricam employs a high speed ½" video
camera and a video optic module with a 1.2 aperture. Editing quality
is achieved even under low light conditions. All data on the
on-screen menu can be stored and retrieved later. Manual white balance
has been added to the standard indoor, outdoor, and automatic white
balance settings. The film image and video image exposure time
can
be synchronized in order to match the film's motion blur. Vertical
video resolution during camera run has been improved. A Genlock
socket,
on the video assist, is used to synchronize external video signals
to the film camera. All functions of the video assist may be controlled
remotely. The camera display has been expanded to include all lens
data information.
For supreme steadiness and extremely quiet film transport, a 5-link
movement, with dual registration pins and dual transport claws, does
the trick. The noise level for the Arricam ST is rated below 20db/A
and for the Arricam LT, it is rated below 24db/A. A three perforation
version of this movement is also available for each camera. Both cameras
have crystal speeds of 1-40fps forward. When using the studio magazines,
either camera will run up to 32fps in reverse.
Lightweight 400' and 1000' carbon fiber magazines may be used with
the Arricam ST in the top and rear load positions. With an adapter,
these same ST magazines can be used with the Arricam LT in the rear
load position. Exclusively for the LT, 400' active displacement magazines
for steadicam and for shoulder operation are available.
The Arricam ST weighs 18.19 lbs., including the finder. Likewise,
with the finder, the Arricam LT weighs 11.57 lbs..
The Arricam's mirror reflex shutter is electronically adjustable,
while the camera is running, from 11.2 degrees to 180 degrees.
